Paul Paviour - Performances

A large number of Paul Paviour's compositions are for a specific group or occasion.

These include the cantata 'All Systems Go' (1969) to celebrate the investiture of the Prince of Wales, and the 'The Singing Continent' and 'Music for Ceremonial' commissioned by the Prime Minister for the opening of the New Parliament House in 1988.

Other performances of note are the Second Symphony by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in 1982, the suite 'Splice the Mainbrace' for the Band of the Royal Australian Navy and the 'Variations on Morton Bay' for the Pittwater Concert Band for their American tour (1997).

Overseas commissions have included the Cranmer Canticles for a choir in the U.K. and the 'The Law which shall not be Broken' for male voice choir, soprano soloist and brass band, for the Gloucester Festival (U.K.) in 1999.

One of the biggest successes of recent years was the 'Prologue and Toccata' for Orchestra commissioned by the Strathfield Symphony Orchestra. They also commissioned the work 'The First Hundred Years' (2001) to celebrate the Centenary of Federation.

Education works include the Biogratorio 'Yesterday a Man Died', commissioned for Goulburn High School in 1989, and the cantata 'Pyramid Rave'.
